ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL

Defect

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2026 Entegra Qwest SE, Condor, Jayco Granite Ridge, and Melbourne recreational vehicles. The taillight warning light may incorrectly illuminate on the instrument panel display when the taillights are functioning correctly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."

Risk / consequence

The incorrect warning light may fail to alert the driver to critical safety information or cause confusion, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will replace the taillight harness, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 6, 2026. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9903657 .

  1. Mar 12, 2026

    3/12/26: The incident was identified by the motorized department and logged for review by the Warranty Incident Review Committee (WIRC).

  2. Mar 16, 2026

    3/16/26: The incident was reviewed during the Warranty Incident Review Committee (WIRC) meeting. Based on engineering’s recommendation for a potential repair, the committee decided to elevate the incident to the Corrective and Preventive Action Committee (CPAC).

  3. Mar 18, 2026

    3/18/26: The incident was reviewed by the Corrective and Preventive Action Committee (CPAC) and assigned to Engineering for root cause analysis. Engineering coordinated with Line 48 and Line 3 for root cause analysis.

  4. Apr 1, 2026

    4/1/26: During the Corrective and Preventive Action Committee (CPAC) meeting, Engineering informed the committee that root cause analysis would begin when the unit arrives at R&D on 4/2/26.

  5. Apr 7, 2026

    4/7/26: Engineering notified Compliance via email that a unit had been returned for service repairs. Engineering also provided preliminary repair instructions and identified an initial scope of 83 affected units.

  6. Apr 15, 2026

    4/15/26: Additional discussions occurred during the Corrective and Preventive Action Committee (CPAC) meeting regarding the affected scope and the need for further testing.

  7. May 6, 2026

    5/6/26: Engineering informed Corrective and Preventive Action Committee (CPAC) that the harness had arrived and that additional testing was being performed.

  8. May 20, 2026

    5/20/26: Corrective and Preventive Action Committee (CPAC) met and decided to submit the incident to the Safety Steering Committee (SSC) for review and voting.

  9. May 28, 2026

    5/28/26: The Safety Steering Committee (SSC) met and voted in favor of proceeding with a noncompliance recall for failure to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR § 571.101, specifically sections S5.3.1(a) and S5.3.1(b), regarding illumination timing.
