ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/PANEL

Defect

Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2024-2026 AMG GT, C-Class, E-Class, SL, CLE, and GLC vehicles. The infotainment control unit may reset while the vehicle is in motion and cause the instrument panel display to go blank.

Risk / consequence

An instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as the speedometer and warning lights, increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will update the infotainment control unit software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 26, 2026. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2026050004. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning May 8, 2026.

Chronology of events

  1. August 2025

    In August 2025, Mercedes(cid:0)Benz AG initiated the rollout of a new display software version designed to improve overall system robustness by reducing sensitivity to certain system influences that could result in a display reset as part of the system’s fallback behavior.

  2. December 2025

    In December 2025, based on regulatory expectations in Korea and feedback indicating a high volume of customer complaints in that market, the software update campaign was assessed as appropriate for a recall implementation in that market On December 19, 2025, Mercedes-Benz submitted a Foreign Recall Report (25F-232) to NHTSA with regard to the Korean campaign.

  3. April 2026

    In April 2026, the display software update was discussed with NHTSA as part of the analysis of Vehicle Owner Questionnaires. During these discussions, the update was presented as an improvement addressing specific complaints related to display resets. As of that time, approximately 62% of the
