Grand Design RV, LLC (Grand Design) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Lineage recreational vehicles. The adhesive securing the solar panels to the roof may fail, allowing the solar panel to detach.

Risk / consequence

A detached solar panel can become a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will install mechanical fasteners, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 11, 2026. Owners may contact Grand Design customer service at 1-574-825-9679. Grand Design's number for this recall is M910059. This recall supersedes NHTSA recall 26V042.

Chronology of events

1. Dec 1, 2025

   12/1/2025: During a routine review of field claims, GDRV identifies a claim in which a customer alleged that a solar panel detached from the roof.

2. Dec 3, 2025

   12/3/2025: GDRV meets internally to review and evaluate the claim. A data analysis is completed, and additional claims involving loose or missing solar panels are identified.

3. Dec 15, 2025

   12/15/2025: GDRV holds an internal meeting to determine necessary testing and vendor engagement to further investigate the concern.

4. Jan 5, 2026

   1/5/2026: GDRV meets internally to reassess the issue. The decision is made to initiate the internal escalation process for determining whether the condition represents a safety defect.

5. Jan 12, 2026

   1/12/2026: The GDRV Management Committee meets and determines that the issue should be escalated to executive leadership for a recall determination.

6. Jan 15, 2026

   01/15/2026: Executive leadership votes to Recall (26V-042)

7. Mar 20, 2026

   03/20/2026: One unit outside Recalled population is identified and investigation is opened. An additional unit is identified that same day.

8. Apr 23, 2026

   04/23/2026: Executive leadership votes to Recall. At this time, decision is made to discontinue Recall 26V-042 and include all units under new Recall with a remedy that will include mechanically fastening solar panels to the roof.
