Altec Industries, Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2025-2026 AM Series Aerial Device vehicles. The emergency stop switch located at the turntable is inoperative when the upper controls interlock is active and allows the upper and lower controls to remain powered when the emergency stop is depressed.

Risk / consequence

An inoperative emergency stop switch increases the risk of injury.

Remedy

Altec will notify owners to inspect for the presence of an adapter harness. If installed, the owner will be instructed to notify Altec, and no further action is needed. If the harness is not installed, Altec will provide a kit to complete the repair, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 9, 2026. Chronology of events

1. Mar 17, 2026

   On March 17, 2026, production testing identified an issue with a unit that continued to operate from the upper controls when the turntable E-stop was pressed. Engineering began a root cause investigation. The investigation determined that the issue was caused by a custom option for a specific customer. On

2. Mar 19, 2026

   March 19, 2026, a fix was tested in production, and a potential field action issue was created. On March 20, 2026, the harness drawing was revised and released to include a diode to prevent the power signal from bypassing the turntable E-stops. Further testing was conducted on an affected unit to identify all potential scenarios in which the issue could occur and whether the potential defect could be detected during testing, a pre-operation inspection, or normal operation. After testing was complete, on April 10, 2026, Altec determined that, even though all affected units were with one owner, the potential for an affected unit to go to a new owner before the remedy could be installed warranted a field action. There have been no accidents, injuries, deaths, or warranty claims related to this issue.
