Defect

Hyundai Motor America (Genesis) is recalling certain Genesis 2022-2026 GV70, 2023-2025 G90, 2021-2025 G80, and GV80 vehicles. Fuel may leak at the pipe connection between the fuel pipe and fuel rail.

Risk / consequence

A fuel leak increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy

Dealers will inspect and tighten, or replace the fuel pipe as necessary, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk mailed June 3, 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy becomes available. Owners may contact Genesis customer service at 844-340-9741. Genesis' number for this recall is 033G. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning April 11, 2026.

    October 2024 - January 2025

  2. July 2024

    July 2024 – Hyundai received two (2) claims alleging fuel odor/leak in certain Genesis vehicles in the U.S. market.

  3. Oct 9, 2024

    October 9, 2024 – A Speak Up for Safety (“SUFS”) report was received by NASO, prompting gathering and analysis of potential incidents.

  4. Jan 13, 2025

    January 13, 2025 – An investigation was opened to confirm the presence of cases in domestic markets, review prior parts collection activity. A request for collection of incident parts was initiated.

  5. August 2025

    February to August 2025 During this time, investigation activities continued with efforts to recover and review incident parts associated with the reported condition. Multiple crossover pipes were recovered to support ongoing assessment. Recurring discussions with HMC included sharing of available field information and investigation status, with HMC continuing to gather and provide additional input as requested. No confirmed defect was found during review of part returns at this time, according to the supplier.
