Defect
Lucid USA, Inc. (Lucid) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Gravity vehicles. The lap belt anchor brackets on the second row seats may have insufficient welds, which can cause bracket failure. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 207, “Seating Systems” and 210, “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages.”
Risk / consequence
Seat bracket failure can increase the risk of injury during a crash.
Remedy
Lucid will inspect and repair the seats or replace the seats as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 18, 2026. Owners may contact Lucid at 1-888-995-8243. Lucid's number for this recall is SR-26-04-00.
Chronology of events
- Jan 22, 2026
On January 22, 2026, while performing an FMVSS 207/210 combined test on the 2nd row seat for an unrelated reason, the lap belt anchor bracket failed to hold under load for the required time. Seat welds conforming to Lucid’s specification passed FMVSS compliance testing prior to Lucid starting sales of Lucid Gravity vehicles. From January 22 to January 28, 2026, working with seat manufacturer Camaco, Lucid determined that the outboard lap belt anchor bracket weld was not to the specified length or was not in the correct location required by the specification that Lucid provided to the manufacturer. Lucid discovered the manufacturer had made weld design changes without Lucid review, approval or notification.
