Defect
Escape Trailer Industries LTD. (Escape Trailer) is recalling certain 2025 E17, E19, E21, E5.0 recreational trailers. The spare tire carrier may have incorrect welding, causing the carrier to detach from the trailer during transit.
Risk / consequence
A detached carrier can become a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the spare tire carriers, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 2026. Owners may contact Escape Trailer customer service at 1-604-703-1650. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on March 9, 2026.
Chronology of events
- Dec 5, 2025
December 5th 2025 - Escape contacted by customer that their spare tire carrier had gone missing from trailer, they provided pictures of weld spot December 6th - Escape contacted supplier to start investigation about potential soft weld spot. It was unknown if all stock was affected. December 8th - Escape initiated a stop on all spare tire carriers installation and procured new stock from supplier to start switching out on trailers on site as a safety measure. Supplier pulled all stock from Escape site and replaced with new stock. Dec 10th - Supplier had informed that a minimal amount of Purchase Orders were affected and believed to be only received in August, Escape replaced all units affected by those dates. February 20th - Escape was contacted by a customer that their spare tire carrier was missing, provided pictures that look the same at the weld spot. Their trailer had been built in Jan of 2025. February 21 - Escape contacts supplier to inform of additional unit affected. Supplier and Escape come to the agreement of all units being pulled off site, the supplier creating new ones with a stamp verifying
