Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2019 Audi Q8, Audi A7, and Audi A6 vehicles previously repaired under recall number 25V900. Due to a software error, the lane departure warning system may be deactivated.

Risk / consequence

The driver may be unaware that the lane departure warning system is deactivated and rely on a system that is not functional, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will update the software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 13, 2026. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's number for this recall is 90TW. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on March 6, 2026.

Chronology of events

1. Jan 16, 2026

   January 16, 2026: VWGoA notified Audi AG about a potential issue affecting the lane departure warning virtual button and icon that was noticed after the 90TV recall software update was performed.

2. Jan 20, 2026

   January 20, 2026: A potential root cause was identified; further analysis required. January 20 – February 5, 2026: Ongoing analysis/validation of potentially affected vehicles conducted. January 29 – February 20, 2026: VWGoA and NHTSA corresponded about the topic and discussed potential next steps. NHTSA indicated its position that the topic must be handled via a recall rather than a service campaign.

3. Feb 25, 2026

   February 25, 2026: The Audi Product Safety Committee again considered the matter and a recall decision was made. Audi is not aware of any crashes, fires, injuries or deaths associated with this topic. Warranty claim summary: Two (2) claims; one with a repair date of 01/30/2026 and the other with a repair date of 02/26/2026.
