FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL:SOFTWARESERVICE BRAKES

Defect

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2026-2027 MV vehicles. The ECU software may fail to engage the brakes with adaptive cruise control (ACC) or hill hold assist.

Risk / consequence

A vehicle that does not automatically brake as expected increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Dealers will update the brake ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 13, 2026. Owners may contact International's customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 26501. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning April 6, 2026.

    12/01/2025: International’s Escobedo Manufacturing facility detects hill hold assist did not activate on two electric vehicles. International contacts Bendix to report the incident.

  2. Dec 2, 2025

    12/02/2025 International determines the issue began during a recent ABS ECU software update.

  3. Dec 10, 2025

    12/10/2025: International completes electric vehicle-level testing and software analysis and determines that a parameter change will re-activate the hill hold assist functionality.

  4. Dec 12, 2025

    12/12/2025: Bendix completes its Hardware in the Loop (HIL) testing and confirms that the parameter change will re-activate the lost functionality.

  5. Dec 13, 2025

    12/13/2025: International updates its end-of-line module programming database to program the parameter change.

  6. Dec 15, 2025

    12/15/2025: International implements a delivery stop at Escobedo and San Antonio Assembly Plants. All affected electric vehicles were contained and repaired.

  7. Jan 6, 2026

    01/06/2026: After further review of the electric vehicle topic, it was determined that this issue may also affect ACC functionalities on diesel vehicles.

  8. Jan 14, 2026

    01/14/2026-1/21/2026 : International continues to investigate impact on other vehicles and confirms that there is no warning indicator to the driver that ACC functionality may be less effective on diesel vehicles and that in diesel applications that use ACC Stop & Driver Go, the service brakes do not activate.

  9. Feb 2, 2026

    02/02/2026: International finalizes the suspect population.

  10. Feb 5, 2026

    02/05/2026 International declares a safety recall.
