Defect
Blue Bird Bus Company (Blue Bird) is recalling certain 2026-2027 Vision and All American school buses. The windows may have illegible DOT markings. As such these windows fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 205, "Glazing Materials."
Risk / consequence
A missing DOT code mark may result in the window being replaced with an incorrect type of glass, increasing the risk of a injury.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and repair the glass etching, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 19, 2026. Owners may contact Blue Bird's customer service at 1-478-822-2242.

12/15/2025 – Blue Bird Corporation informed Lippert that the markings are not clear after a bus was inspected at the border and found the DOT designator on a window illegible.

12/15/2025 – Investigation opened. Quality inspection and containment done at all Lippert manufacturing facilities of the windows for Blue Bird.
12/16/20205 –Quality inspection begins at Blue Bird facility.
