Defect

Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2023 Range Rover Evoque vehicles. Water may enter the rearview camera, which can cause the rearview camera image not to appear on the display or display a distorted image.

Risk / consequence

A rearview camera image that does not display can decrease the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

Remedy

Dealers will replace the rearview camera, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed November 14, 2025. Owners may contact Land Rover's customer service at 800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is D053.

Chronology of events

  1. August 2025

Following receipt of field reports concerning loss of or deteriorated rear camera image, a Product Safety and Compliance (PSCC) investigation was opened on 15 August 2025. During the second half of August 2025 data analysis was undertaken into the failure rate, however this analysis was unable to complete due to a significant cyber incident which cut off JLR’s access to the latest data and analysis systems. In the first half of September 2025, an archived copy of failure rate data taken from April 2025 was retrieved and a manual failure rate and predictive analysis was started into the camera performance by vehicle line, and the results of this analysis for the Range Rover Evoque (L551) vehicle line were presented to PSCC on 16 September 2025. These results showed a pattern of elevated failure rate which was aligned to supplier-based quality data relating to the performance of the Pressure Compensation Element, for which 25% of parts were reported to be at risk of delaminating and risking moisture ingress. It was decided to take the matter to JLR’s PSCC Decision Forum.
