Radio and Speakers May Overheat and Cause a Fire

Aluminum Trailer Company (ATC) is recalling certain 2023 PL500, 2023-2024 PL700, 2023-2025 RM500, RM900, ST450, 2024-2025 PL550, PL750, 2024 PR300, 2025 RM450, RM550, and RM800. A software error may cause the radio and speakers to overheat.

Risk / consequence

Overheated radio and speakers increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy

ATC will work with Maxxsonics to mail instructions and a USB with a software update. All speakers will be inspected and replaced as necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 24, 2025. Owners may call ATC customer service at 1-877-441-2440 ext. 342.

Chronology of events

1. Jun 20, 2025

   April 2025 and then more in June. Notified production, quality department, and engineering about the issue on 6/20/25. We continued getting more cases through June and July. There was a total of 12 cases. Our engineering team began investigating and found that the radios were getting over 200 degrees on the back side of the radio. We started bench testing all radios and stopped usage. The radio and speaker manufacturer Maxxsonics was contacted July 10th for a meeting on July 11th. Maxxsonics
