All-Weather Floor Mats May Trap Accelerator Pedal

Lucid USA, Inc. (Lucid) is recalling certain All-Weather Floor Mats without anchors, model numbers ending in -00. Please see the recall report for a complete list of all affected part numbers. The floor mats may move and trap the accelerator pedal, causing unintended acceleration.

Risk / consequence

Unintended acceleration increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy

Owners are advised to remove the all-weather floor mat from the driver's side footwell. Lucid will reimburse owners for the original cost of the floor mats. Owner notification letters were mailed May 21, 2025. Owners may contact Lucid at 1-888-995-8243. Lucid's number for this recall is SR-25-01-1.

Chronology of events

1. Aug 16, 2024

   On Aug 16, 2024, a Lucid sales associate driving a Lucid internal vehicle with model -00 All-Weather Floor Mats (AWFM) in Europe notified Field Service Engineering that he suspected the accelerator pedal was momentarily stuck during heavy acceleration, though was later unable to reproduce the issue with a service technician. On Sept 30, a customer complained that an AWFM was moving around, though did not complain of accelerator interference. From Sept 13 to Nov 5, Lucid Quality monitored model -00 AWFM performance in mileage accumulation vehicles. In 13 instances, some movement of the AWFM was reported, but no interference with the accelerator was observed. Quality notified Lucid’s Product Safety Working Group (PSWG) of these data on Nov 12, and briefed the PSWG on Nov 14. The PSWG met again on Nov 21 and Jan 9, 2025, to review additional information from Quality and Engineering on AWFM testing, design, and part history. On Feb 27, a U.S. Lucid customer complained that while accelerating to overtake traffic, their accelerator pedal did not decompress when released. The PSWG met on Mar 6 to review this event and vehicle telemetry, which was consistent with the customer’s report. The PSWG briefed these events to the Product Safety Executive Council (PSEC) on Mar 17. Lucid is not aware of any crashes resulting from this condition. Nonetheless, the PSEC concluded the model -00 AWFM poses an unreasonable risk of movement that may interfere with the accelerator returning to the idle position. The PSEC decided Lucid would initiate a recall of all model -00 AWFM delivered to customers and warn customers not to use the model -00 AWFM in the driver’s footwell.
