Defect
Evenflo Company, Inc. (Evenflo) is recalling certain All4One child seats. Please refer to Evenflo's recall report for specific model numbers. In rear-facing mode, the adjustable recline mechanism may shift out of proper position. As such, these child seats fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 213, "Child Restraint Systems."
Risk / consequence
A child seat that does not maintain proper recline position may not adequately secure a child in a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Additionally, should another passenger put their hand in the recline mechanism when it shifts out of position, their risk of injury is increased.
Remedy
Evenflo will replace the child seat, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed beginning February 18, 2026. Owners may contact Evenflo customer service at 1-800-233-5921.
Chronology of events
- Dec 18, 2024
On December 18, 2024, Evenflo received notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that it had tested products representative of the subject population as part of its annual testing program and that, during multiple dynamic tests with a dummy installed in rear-facing reclined configuration with lower anchor belt attachment and no top tether, the recline of the product changed to a different adjustment position. Evenflo initiated an investigation.

On January 19, 2025, Evenflo concluded that the product exhibited the potential for the failure mode reported in the NHTSA notice and that this constitutes a noncompliance to FMVSS 213, but that the noncompliance was inconsequential to safety. On January 27, 2025, Evenflo notified NHTSA of those conclusions.

On February 14, 2025 Evenflo submitted a Petition to NHTSA requesting a determination that the noncompliance was inconsequential to safety.
- Dec 17, 2025
On December 17, 2025 NHTSA’s denial of the Petition for a determination of inconsequential noncompliance was published in the Federal Register.
