As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Risk / consequence
Headlights that are excessively bright can reduce visibility for oncoming drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Dealers will reprogram the headlight control unit software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2025. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is ARC5.
Chronology of events
- Nov. 2024
In Nov. 2024, Porsche was informed that it is possible that vehicle software data sets for upper beam mode may allow the photometric output to exceed the applicable thresholds. The matter was then assessed in terms of the applicable regulations and the vehicles potentially affected were identified. On Nov. 21st Porsche determined a FMVSS non-compliance and decided to conduct a recall on the subject vehicles.
