Improperly Welded Trailer Mounts

Great Dane Trailers (Great Dane) is recalling certain 2025 Everest SS refrigerated trailers. The support gear bracing mounts may have been welded improperly.

Risk / consequence

An improperly welded support gear bracing mount can lead to the trailer collapsing, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy

Dealers will inspect and repair the support gear bracing mount as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 16, 2024. Owners may contact Great Dane customer service at 1-877-369-3493.

   07/09/2024 Great Dane Warranty notifies Great Dane Manufacturing and Great Dane Quality of the incident and request a review of manufacturing processes and records.

3. Jul 15, 2024

   07/15/2024 Great Dane Warranty notifies Great Dane Engineering and Great Dane Management of the incident, and ongoing investigation.

   07/17/2024 Great Dane Quality reports their findings from their review of manufacturing records and processes

   07/19/2024 Great Dane receives field inspection observations for sister trailers inspected in the field

   07/19/2024-07/30/2024 Manufacturing facility inspects trailers on their yard, and works to determine clean dates and suspect population.

   08/01/2024 A collapse of trailer support gear on a trailer from a different order is reported.

   08/02/2024 Great Dane receives field inspection observations for sister trailers of this unit inspected in the field.

   08/06/2024 Great Dane Warranty requests update on suspect population identification, yard inspections and rework status from Great Dane Manufacturing, and is informed that 5 units have been found on the manufacturing yard that are currently being reworked.

10. Aug 6, 2024

    08/06/2024-08/16/2024 Great Dane Warranty continues to work with Great Dane Manufacturing and Great Dane Quality to define the suspect population and confirm clean dates.

    08/16/2024 Great Dane is working to produce field inspection and repair procedures

    08/19/2024 Suspect population is confirmed and it is determined that this represents a safety issue that may affect vehicles that are currently in operation in the field.
