Cummins, Inc. (Cummins) is recalling certain B6.7 Diesel Engines part numbers RA11741 and RA11769, and F3.8 Diesel Engines part numbers RA 11789 and RA00074. The incorrect rubber elbow was installed in the liquid cooling system. The elbow can expand and leak coolant.
Risk / consequence
A high temperature coolant leak increases the risk of injury to bystanders.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the rubber hose elbow, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 25, 2025. Owners may contact Cummins customer service at 1-800-286-6467. Cummins' number for this recall is C7119.
Chronology of events
- May 2024
31 May 2024 - OEM notified Cummins of observing a swelling hose while the unit was undergoing a hot test. 15 July 2024 – Cummins issued a ‘quality alert’ informing producing locations to stop using the subject part. 16 August 2024 – The specification error was corrected on the engineering bill of material. 19 September 2024 – The Product Safety Leader for Cummins Distribution Unit was notified of the issue. 10 December 2024 - The Cummins Product Safety Defect Board decided to initiate a safety campaign to address this condition.� To date, there have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to this issue.
