Awning Fabric May Detach Causing Awning to Drop

Starcraft RV (Starcraft) is recalling certain 2022 Autumn Ridge Outfitter, Super lite Maxx, and Super Lite travel trailers. The electric retractable awning has a welded seam on the fabric that may separate, potentially allowing the awning to drop beyond normal operation.

Risk / consequence

An awning that drops or extends beyond normal operation can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy

Dealers will inspect and repair, or if necessary, replace awning fabric, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 31, 2022. Owners may contact Starcraft's customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Starcraft's number for this recall is 9902578.

Chronology of events

1. Jul 18, 2022

   A formal notification sent from Lippert Components to Jayco Inc. on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 9:17 a.m. regarding Lippert Recall 22E-055. Lippert provided an excel file listing our affected purchases and shipment history of the awnings involved in the recall. On July 18, 2022 WIRC (Warranty and Incident Review Committee) elevated to CPAC (Corrective and Preventive Action Committee). On July 20, 2022 CPAC discussed the incident and elevated to SSC (Safety Steering committee). On July 28, 2022 SSC discussed the incident and voted to proceed with a recall.
